TRANQUIL VIEWS FROM HASTINGS GARDENS
Hastings Gardens are a public garden on the west side of City Gate, the main entrance to Valletta. Located above St John’s Bastion and St Micheal’s Bastion, the gardens enjoy spectacular views of Sliema, Manoel Island, Msida and Marsamxett Harbour. A monument in honour of the second Governor of Malta, Francis, the Marquess of Hastings, is situated within the gardens. After Lord Hastings died at sea in 1827, his remains were buried in the garden, which are also named after him.
Quite extensive gardens offering splendid views. Sit on a bench in a shaded area and relax for a time.????????????????— WowMalta Tips (@WowMalta) June 23, 2017
Maltese legend says that the gardens were built in only four hours. Hastings Gardens are an attractive city park in Valletta, that have recently undergone improvements and revitalisation. The panoramic view from the gardens make them an ideal place to watch the sunset, as well as a peaceful spot where visitors can enjoy moments of tranquility throughout the day. From the Valletta bus terminus, Hastings Gardens can be reached by going up the stairs on the first left as you enter the City Gate. During the summer, the gardens host the annual Marsovin Wine festival, a lively wine tasting and live music event.
